MAHAYANA SUTRA

The third lecture
"The Attainment and the Perfection of Kundalini Yoga"

Difference between Hinayana and Mahayana

Here I would like to mention the difference between Hinayana and Mahayana.

The practitioner of Hinayana can enter Nirvana if he attaine one Yoga. It can be Raja Yoga, it can be Kundalini Yoga, or it can be Jnana Yoga. If he attain one of these three Yogas, he can enter Nirvana. Then how can I say so?

The practitioner of Hinayana denies everything: This world is dirty; Everything is evil; Everything is suffering. This is how he deny everything. Then what can happen? This world can be seen as illusion to him. And he can enter Nirvana in the end.

However, if something accidentally occured and the part of his denial is being destroyed, he can't enter Nirvana. Even if he was in Nirvana, he has to come down to this phenomenal world.

On the contrary, Mahayana is completely different to Hinayana. One has to meet others rather than to deny them. And he should take everyone's karma. In order to do so, he needs supernatural power of gods which transcends human ability. He needs strong power of will. And he needs to eradicate karma by analizing oneself after recieving other's karma.

In such manner, he should make up the state when he can get along with everything. Then, as you can see, he needs Raja Yoga. He needs Kundalini Yoga. And he needs Jnana Yoga as well. So according to which path you select, Mahayana or Hinayana, what one should practice as well as one's way of living will be different. So for the practitioners of Mahayana, certain amount of pleasure is permitted in this world, because one can not do the practice of Mahayana if he does not have certain capacity toward stimulation. However, such thing is completely prohibited in the practitioners of Hinayana. They practice the perfect denial, maintain their own state, and wait until the life ends. Or throw away the physical body intensionally. There is no other way.

It is up to you which path you choose, Mahayana or Hinayana. But I want you to select your own path after understanding what I had told you; difference between Hinayana and Mahayana, and the characteristics of Kundalini.

Beginning of salvation in the real sense

The process of analisys ends by Jnana Yoga. In this stage, one will never recieve the influence of his own karma. Then, the following question can naturally occur; What is the discrimination between self and others? In order to overcome the discrimination between self and others, Mahayana Yoga which is based on "the four immesurable minds" begins. The salvation in the real sense begins from this point.

Today, I spoke about the caution and state of Kundalini Yoga. In Kundalini Yoga, one can automatically enter Astral world and Causal world by the rise of energy. However, even after one had attainment, wish to die occurs when this attainer lose energy. However, if you leave him for a few days or a few weeks, he can recover for sure if he would not lose any more energy.

One more thing that I talked was that one can not have good Astral or Causal experience if he does not have refuge, merit, and the practice of the truth as the basement since he goes into Astral or Causal world automatically. And I told you the possibility torecieve mental interference. So for those who are walking on the process of Kundalini Yoga should think of the importance of refuge, merit, and the practice of the truth.

Then tomorrow, I shall talk about Jnana Yoga.
