MAHAYANA SUTRA

The fifth lecture
"The Attainment and the Perfection of Mahayana Yoga"

What to do after Mahayana yoga

Now the Mahayana Yoga had ended. Where will he go now? He becomes the inhibitant in the Astral world. Than what will he do in the Astral world? This will be the tomorrow's subject. It goes on to "Astral Yoga" and "Causal Yoga". And at the stage when one made the perfection of the Causal Yoga, he enters Mahayana, which is the ultimate enlightenment.

In the scripture of Buddha Sakyamuni, there is a phrase as follows; "I had done everything which I had to do. There is nothing left that I should do".

On the other hand, it is written, "Some of them obtained three brightness, and some of them obtained three brightness and six supernatural powers." in the state mentioned above. Why can the final results be different if they had done everything, in other words, went through everything which they had to do? This is a contradiction.

Let me explain to you. It is not the state of Mahayana wheen they speak about the state when one had done what he had to done. In fact it means, "Everything which had to be done in this life". Jnana Yoga cuts thekarma which is related to this life. And the Yogas which comes after this are the Yoga concerning with the Astral world and the Causal world.

So one can say that he had done the everything which he had done at the perfection of Jnana Yoga. This is also the case with Mahayana Yoga which comes after this. Also the same with Astral Yoga and Causal Yoga. In other words, there are four ranks in the state when one had done everything which one should have done. So it is natural that what they obtained is different. So it is the lack of enough explanation of the sutra.

What is Karma yoga, what is Bhakti yoga

Yesterday, there was a question, "In which Yoga does the Karma Yoga and the Bhakti Yoga consisted in?

First of all, let me explain to you what is the Karma Yoga. In short, it is "the Yoga to consider everyone as teacher". For example, let's say that there was a man who is doing bad thing. You should think, "He is teaching me that I should not do such bad thing.". Let's say that there was another man who is doing good thing. You should think, "It is a good karma if I accumulate good deeds like him. My mind can be bright if I do so." These are the basement for the Karma Yoga.

At the time the Karma Yoga were to come to perfection, one can understand the law of karma by looking at the return of bad karma to the former person who had accumulated bad karma, and the return of good karma to the latter person who had accumulated good karma. This is the essence of the Karma Yoga.

The Karma Yoga is the Yoga to observe the karma in the outer world. You can consider Jnana Yoga as teh YOga to fight against the karma in the inner world so as to eradicate karma. So the Karma Yoga is related to Jnana Yoga.

Next is about the Bhakti Yoga. It is said that the Bhakti Yoga is the Yoga of devotion toward god. It is the practice to symchronize oneself to the will of god and the will of Guru. This Yoga is necessary for Kundalini Yoga, Jnana Yoga, and Mahayana Yoga.

In Kundalini Yoga, one accumulate merit by the devotion to god or Guru so as to fly to the high Astral world. In Jnana Yoga, one analyzes the karma nad realize that the karma is the will of god, and that the karma is given to me so as to experience various things. And in Mahayana Yoga, one practices love which is the will of god. So all three Yogas concerns with god.

So Bhakti Yoga as well as Karma Yoga which I had mentioned earlier can be practced along with the process of other Yogas. No, they should be practiced along with this process of Yogas which I have been talking about.
